You’d have to find exactly the right buyer, who might not even exist.

He needs it gone so he's only asking $1700 over what it's worth. Great. What would be the discount for removing all that stuff then?

If it's a stick, I'd give him $6500 for it TODAY!

At what point do mods start to change the value? Like does it have to be an engine swap or higher?

the right buyer is probably already the owner...

And, realistically, $5k would be pushing it.

Depends who you ask. Some people think mods lower the value. I don’t even know how to price a swapped car

I would think dealer recognized or installed upgrades increase the value by a portion of the upgrade value. Something like Dinan for BMW, Roush for Ford, etc.

See that’s always seemed weird to me. I mean obviously your plastic pep boys chrome fender vents arnt worth jack, but at some point we’re talking about expensive parts and work that make the car better. Like a Miata with supercharger and a full suspension from Flyin’ Miata or something has to be a better car than a stock one.

Personally, my rule is 50%, based on my estimate, for quality mods. Basically 50% of parts cost unless it's something I wouldn't do myself and it was done at a quality shop.

well yeah, you have a fairer point. Adding onto what bobbe17 said, factory recognized installs/upgrades will command a premium and that’s understandable.

I’d pay more for a TL with a Comptech Supercharger in a heart beat, I wouldn’t pay more for a TL just cause it was parts I can get myself

Depends on the car and engine. If it’s a 4Runner with a small block swap, the value will usually be lower because it usually is a white trash swap. If it’s a 4Runner with a 5VZE, 1UZ, or JZ swap, the value goes up.

They start adding value when the person that is going to buy it thinks they do. To someone I know a local supercharged Mustang is a good buy at x price, to me they are over paying because the thing isn't properly built or tuned.

But yet, the buyer says he has so many upgrades done to the car, he’s forgotten some to list. It seems like red flags go up everytime someone reads that. The Infiniti G35 is a good car.

I agree with the other post; the best buyer is already the owner.
